| Unfortunately, we will be unable to present Bikenite this year as we have for the past 8 wonderful years. There are some logistical problems within Bristol Borough involving numerous capital improvements which make it unwelcoming and unsafe for motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts. Also, Bristol Borough is requiring us to hire the services of the Major Incident Response Team at a cost of approximately $3000 to control and handle unruliness in our crowd. (Yes, I know, what unruliness?) Bikenite is an ENTIRELY charitable event and the Bucks County Motorcycle Association cannot move that kind of money out of needy folks' mouths, we just don't have that kind of budget. We are looking into other options for next year - trying to find the $3000, considering a different venue, praying for a change of heart from the powers that be in Bristol... |
Here are some little known facts about Bristol Bikenite:
- Last year, from the proceeds of Bikenite, BCMA donated $1000 to the Bristol Borough Shop with
a Cop Program, $500 to the Bristol Borough Police, $500 to the Bristol Fire Police, $500 to the
local Rescue Squad and $5000 to the Ancient Order of Hibernian Hunger Project. - The HHP is dedicated to serving the poor and hungry in our local communities. From our 2007
donation of $5000, the HHP was able to purchase 111,000 portions of food from Philadelphia
food banks. - BCMA has so far donated $20,000 in the past four years to the HHP. Except for this year... The
Bristol AOH includes our yearly donation into their HHP budget and the loss this year will be
significant. - Local charities who benefit from the HHP are the Bristol Borough Community Action Center, Kelly
Family Services, A Woman's Place to name a few...
